Nicole Troup collaborates with her subjects for her ongoing portrait series "Portraits for a Cause" (PFAC).  The project serves several purposes, to amplify some of her muses' personal stories, support important causes and to promote the arts by featuring subjects who are in various creative roles such as visual artists, writers, musicians, performance artists, actors and film industry creatives. (PFAC features many subjects who are artists, but the project is not limited to only artists).

A few of these stories shared by those in the portrait series are about faith or overcoming obstacles and are intended to inspire, encourage and offer hope or inspiration to others. Other stories offer encouragement and inspiration to those pursuing the same creative field as the subject featured. The series supports special causes by raising money in different ways that include: donations, selling the portraits or raising funds through live or recorded portrait demonstrations, artist talks, and through her "Draw and Chat" guest interviews (recorded or livestream).

A few of Nicole's collaborations for the portrait series include subjects from her local area as well as personalities in acting and entertainment including:  Michael Shannon, Machine Gun Preacher, Madeline Carroll, Cassie Thomson,  Erica Ash,  Gianna Simone, New York model Mari Malek, WWE wrestler and Reality TV Star Titus O’Neil and others.
